The Mad River Valley is a unique vacation destination.
Four towns consisting of Warren, Waitsfield, Fayston and Moretown set in the heart and soul of Vermont, it's the one place where
you can do it all...or nothing at all. Vermont's Mad River Valley is home to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen Ski Resorts. You'll fall in love
with its classic New England landscape and architecture -
a mountain ridge line, a winding river, hillside farms, covered
bridges and steepled villages.
The Mad River Valley flows with activities all
year long. The Mad River is the Valley's heart, and it offers
canoeing, kayaking, fly- fishing and swimming. In fact, you
can access a great swimming hole and the Mad River Path for a fun
walk, run or bike ride right across the road from our inn.
Or, take an adventure and check out the many miles of single
track and road for biking. Then, you can find time to explore.
Gliders soar over the Mad River Valley. Vermont Icelandic Horses travel throughout
our back roads and trails. Hike the Long Trail and many other
great spots. Challenge yourself on Sugarbush's spectacular 18-hole
golf course, set against the Green Mountains, designed by
Robert Trent Jones Sr. On Saturday the place to be is the Waitsfield Farmers Market, food, music art make this a morning destination. Speaking of art, the Mad River Valley is home to the Vermont Festival of the Arts. Be it visual art, culinary extravaganzas, workshops, walks or gallery tours you will find it here.
The fall offers the kind of beauty that artists
try to represent in oil, watercolor and words. It is something
that must be experienced to believe. Hear the leaves crackle
under your feet as you browse the farmers’ market, visit
the local artisans’ shops or stroll through a covered
bridge. Mad River Glen and Sugarbush spin their lifts so you can enjoy the colorful scene from a much higher vantage point.
In the winter the Valley is laced with cross-country,
snowshoeing and snowmobiling trails which offer miles of scenic
travel. Ole's and Blueberry Lake XC centers offer hundreds
of kilometers of tracked trails. But the king of winter fun
is downhill skiing at Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. You will
find fun and challenging runs for all abilities just minutes
from our door. If these two fantastic resorts are still not
enough for you, Stowe is 18 miles north and Killington is
30 miles south, completing the selection of the finest of
New England's skiing within an hour's drive.
Vermont's Mad River Valley is the hidden gem of our lovely state. Come see for yourself.
