For those of you who know about naked raku there is no need to explain the name any further.

For those who do not, I have to let you know that I do not work in the nude. I am however very intrigued in the unglazed "naked" method of firing raku pots. I am fortunate enough to own and run both the pottery studio & gallery as well as the Wilder Farm Inn Bed and Breakfast located in the beautiful Mad River Valley of Waitsfield, Vermont.

My wife and I purchased the Wilder Farm Inn in June of 2004 with the intention of building a pottery studio on the property. Well four years later, the Naked Potter was born. The studio building process, which started with a salvaged post and beam frame from Fletcher, Vermont in the Fall of 2006, has been completed mostly by our own hands. The construction work has been, and continues to be, very fun and challenging as well as a personal expression; like my art. Originally the plan was to be up and running in the spring of 2007. I have come to realize that projects take a lot longer than you anticipate, especially in Vermont.

The Naked Potter is a full-service studio offering instructional classes, workshops, visiting artists, studio space and glaze & fire raku for guests of the Wilder Farm Inn as well as anyone who wanders by. Have a look at my work and workshop schedule. If you have any questions or just want to talk "clay", please drop an email. I love to share experiences with other potters and enjoy the knowledge exchange that always happens when creative people get together. If you happen to be traveling to Vermont, either stop by and have a look around or better yet, stay with us and set up some private studio time.
