Seasonal Fun [Vermont's Mad River Valley]

Mad River Valley

The Mad River Valley is a unique vacation destination comprised of four towns:  Warren, Waitsfield, Fayston and Moretown. It's the place where you can do it all...or nothing at all.

The area flows with activities all year long...

-The Mad River:  It is the Valley's heart, and it offers canoeing, kayaking, fly-fishing and swimming. In fact, you can access a great swimming hole and the Mad River Path for a fun walk, run or bike ride right across the road from our inn.

-Biking:  Take an adventure and check out the many miles of single track and/or the glorious views along the way during a breathtaking road ride.

-Soaring:  Enjoy the Valley from a different perspective with one of the most gorgeous glider rides.

-Vermont Icelandic Horses: Travel our back roads and trails on these wonderful creatures.

-Hike:  So many trails to choose from...the Long Trail to Camel's Hump, Burnt Rock, App Gap, the Stark's Nest, the Glen House and Sunset Rock as well as many other great spots.

-Golf:  Challenge yourself on Sugarbush's spectacular 18-hole golf course, set against the Green Mountains, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.

-Browse Locally:  On Saturday, the place to be is the Waitsfield Farmers' Market; food, music and art make this a morning destination.

-Art:  The Mad River Valley is home to the Vermont Festival of the Arts. Be it visual art, culinary extravaganzas, workshops, walks or gallery tours you will find it here.

-Fall Beauty:  The fall offers the kind of beauty that artists try to represent in oil, watercolor and words. It is something that must be experienced to believe. Hear the leaves crackle under your feet as you browse the farmers' market, visit the local artisans' shops or stroll through a covered bridge. Mad River Glen and Sugarbush spin their lifts so you can enjoy the colorful Vermont foliage from a much higher vantage point.

-Winter Fun:  The Valley is laced with cross-country, snowshoeing and snowmobiling trails which offer miles of scenic travel. Ole's and Blueberry Lake XC centers offer hundreds of kilometers of tracked trails. But the king of winter fun is downhill snow skiing at Sugarbush and Mad River Glen. You will find fun and challenging runs for all abilities just minutes from our door. If these two fantastic ski resorts are still not enough for you, Stowe is 18 miles north and Killington is 30 miles south, completing the selection of the finest of New England's skiing within an hour's drive.
